چکیده

Intercropping legumes with cereals for forage production is a practical multi-cropping technique to increase yield and improve land use efficiency. In 3-year cropping sequence, alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) intercropped corn (Zea mays may overall economic sustainability over either crop alone. The objective of this study was assess productivity corn-alfalfa intercropping system its effect on weed community. conducted near Boone, IA, USA, from 2016 2018 repeated 2017 2019 the five treatments: only, alfalfa, prohexadione (PHX) applied at V8 stage, spring-seeded (corn in seeding year followed by planting following year) productivity. Corn grain decreased 23 26% when alfalfa; PHX application did not affect or yield. Alfalfa stand density under reduced 36 68% compared alone year. first same among treatments sole alfalfa. However, had two three times less than other treatments. stem greater studies year, fewer stems successive years. strongly correlated density, height, stage harvest Weed inconsistently biomass. conclusion, establishing can skip low-yielding Based findings our experiment, future research should focus screening drought tolerant hybrids vigorous root systems. Using an early-maturing hybrid, coupled management practices such as appropriate N fertilization, chances success system.

Weed Control via Intercropping with Gliricidia. Ii. Corn Crop

A reduction in herbicide use is one of modern agriculture’s main interests and several alternatives are being investigated with this objective, including intercropping. Gliricídia (Gliricidia sepium) mulch has no allelopathic effect on corn or beans but significantly decreased the population of some weed species. The objective of this study was to evaluate green ear and grain yield in corn cult...

Influence of Corn Sowing Density and Gliricidia Intercropping

There is interest in the identification of the best seeding density for new corn hybrids and on reduced use of herbicides for weed control. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of seeding density (30, 50, 70, and 90 thousand plants ha) and weed control on green ear yield and grain yield in corn cultivar AG 1051. A completely randomized block design was adopted with split-plot...

Investigation Corn and Soybean Intercropping Advantages in Competition with Redroot Pigweed and Jimsonweed

The spatial variation in plant species associated with intercropping is intended to reduce resource competition between species and increase yield potential. A field experiment was carried out on corn (Zea mays L.) and soybean (Glycine max L.) intercropping in a replacement series experiment with weed contamination consist of: weed free, infestation of redroot pigweed, infestation of jimsonweed...

Intercropping corn and kudzu in a rotation system with soybean

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of sowing procedures and the seed sowing rate of kudzu (Pueraria phaseoloides cv. ‘Comum’) in corn on corn plant development, forage dry matter production, weed infestation and soybean plant development and yield. The kudzu seeds were either broadcasted over the terrain or sown in furrows (in the main plots) at rates, in both cases, of 400...

Effect of Plant Density and Weed Interference on Morphological Characteristics and Yield of Corn (Zea Mays L.)

Objective: Field experiment was conducted in 2009 to investigate the effects of plant density and weed interference on morphological characteristics and yield of corn (Zea Mays, L.) at Research Station of University of Tabriz, Tabriz, Iran. Methods: The experiment was arranged as split plot based on randomized complete block design with three replications. Plant density (D1, D2, D3 and D4: 5, 7...
